Mushindo Wado-Kai Kata Competition, 8th March 2015
Aimee Sell travelled to Walsall on Sunday 8th March 2015 to compete in the Mushindo Wado-Kai Kata competition along with her club student Toni. The competition was split into two sessions, the Wado only Kata session in the morning followed by the open Kata session in the afternoon where both Aimee and Toni competed.

Aimee was soon in action in the senior Kata event. The organisers had
kindly arranged for this category to be a round-robin event allowing
each competitor to perform 4 Kata’s. A perfect opportunity for Aimee to
use this as a final warm-up event for her forthcoming appearance in the
Senior European Championships in mid March.
Aimee performed Anan in round 1 winning 2-1. Another 2-1 in round 2 after her Suparinpai performance was followed by a 3-0 win in the 3rd round for Nipaipo. Aimee’s final Kata was Chatanyara Kushanku which she won 3-0. Undefeated in the round-robin, Aimee claimed GOLD.
More importantly, Aimee had the opportunity to try out the many adaptations to her Kata’s in a competitive environment receiving some invaluable feedback from some of the judges present.
Aimee was then lucky enough to have the opportunity to be asked by competition organiser, Vince Parker, to perform one last Kata as a demonstration after her competition event had concluded. This gave Aimee the opportunity to complete her set of Katas for the Europeans. It was great to have some very senior Referees support Aimee and help her in her Euro preparations, so a big thank you to Gary Hoyle and Vince Parker, your observations and feedback are invaluable.
